Google DeepMind announces a deepened partnership with the UK government to accelerate AI adoption in science, education, public services, and national security.

• •Priority access to frontier AI models (AlphaEvolve, AlphaGenome, AI co-scientist, WeatherNext) will be provided to UK scientists for research in areas like crop resilience and antimicrobial resistance.
• •Google DeepMind will establish its first automated materials science laboratory in the UK in 2026, using Gemini-integrated robotics to synthesize and characterize hundreds of materials per day.
• •A pilot in Northern Ireland showed Gemini saved teachers an average of 10 hours per week; an RCT found AI tutoring made students 5.5 percentage points more likely to solve novel problems than human tutoring alone.
• •The UK government's AI Incubator (i.AI) is trialling Extract, a Gemini-powered tool that reduces planning document processing from 2 hours to 40 seconds.
